MakerGhat is a non-profit makerspace in Powai, India (in the outskirts of Mumbai) that serves the local, low-income community, particularly focusing on youth. It seeks to empower local youth there by teaching them design thinking, rapid prototyping, entrepreneurship, and basic engineering skills - all things that rote learning cannot bring. More information on MakerGhat can be found here.

During my internship at MakerGhat, I created and launched MakerGhat’s flagship design thinking and engineering prototyping workshop, called the Changemakers Fellowship. It consisted of four two-hour classes spread out over two weeks, with a class size of 10 people. I designed the program, created all of the lesson plans, and organized all of the activities and assignments, and was able to run two separate cohort classes during the span of my internship.
